Features: The 20 articles selected here roughly reflect my academic and intellectual journey since the late 1980s. Someone once summarized it as follows: the 1980s were about "ideology," while the 1990s were about "problems"—the two major phases of the humanities in the reform era. In the 1980s, the "culture boom," "new enlightenment," the spread of Western learning, and a succession of intellectual trends flourished, with the intellectual community favoring novelty and active theoretical thinking. However, the atmosphere shifted abruptly in the 1990s, and the intellectual community returned to the "Qian-Jia era."
