Features: Jin Yuelin (1895-1984) was a philosopher and logician. Born in Hunan, he was a native of Zhejiang. His courtesy name was Longsun. In 1911, he entered Tsinghua College. In 1914, he was admitted as a government-funded overseas student. In 1920, he obtained his Ph.D. from Columbia University in the United States. In 1921, he went to the United Kingdom to study. In 1925, he returned to China. He served as a professor in the Department of Philosophy at Tsinghua University, Southwest Associated University, and Peking University. After 1955, he served as a first-class researcher, deputy director, and academician of the Philosophy Department of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. He engaged in teaching, research, and organizational leadership in philosophy and logic, and was one of the earliest logicians to systematically introduce modern logic to China. He combined Western philosophy with Chinese philosophy, establishing a unique philosophical system. He trained a large number of highly qualified specialists in philosophy and logic. The Jin Yuelin Academic Foundation has now been established. His works include On the Way and Epistemology. In August 1995, the Chinese Academy of Sciences held a memorial conference for the centenary of Jin Yuelin's birth.
