Can children drink whole-fat acid milk?

Patient's question:

My little one is 17 months old. Can they drink whole milk flavored acidophilus milk? If not, what kind of milk or yogurt can they drink? Thank you!

Doctor's answer:

Yogurt is made by adding acid to fresh milk. Generally, 5-8% sugar is added to the milk and boiled, then cooled. For every 100 milliliters of milk, 8 drops of 12.5% hydrochloric acid or 5% lactic acid or 5 milliliters of citric acid are added. Milk can also be mixed with fruit juice to make yogurt, while stirring until it forms a fine curd, which is yogurt, to make the curdling in the milk finer. The acid in yogurt can increase the amount of stomach acid, promote the action of digestive enzymes, and inhibit the growth of E. coli in the large intestine. However, once yogurt is made, it cannot be boiled again, so it can only be served cold, or the milk bottle can be placed in warm water to heat it before eating.
