Features: Portrait brick refers to images made by stamping and molding methods. As a unique branch of folk art in ancient Chinese art, the art of portrait brick flourished for over fourteen centuries in the garden of ancient Chinese art from the late Warring States period to the Song and Yuan dynasties. During this time, dynasties rose and fell, and the social landscape and ideology underwent significant changes. To date, thousands of discovered portrait bricks not only vividly record and reflect these changes but also present the development process of this folk art to us. The three volumes of "The Complete Collection of Chinese Portrait Brick" respectively collect exquisite portrait bricks found in Henan, Sichuan and Chongqing, as well as other regions, basically reflecting the historical development and overall appearance of ancient Chinese portrait brick art. Each illustration in "Sichuan Han Portrait Brick" is annotated with a name and date, and a detailed illustration description is appended at the end of the book. The book includes three essays: "Introduction to Ancient Chinese Portrait Brick," "Introduction to Sichuan Han Portrait Brick," and "On the Artistic Value of Sichuan Han Portrait Brick." This volume is primarily organized by region, aiming to comprehensively showcase the development of Sichuan portrait bricks. The book focuses on archaeological excavations, supplemented by representative works passed down through generations. It considers both the artistic value of the portrait bricks themselves and their diverse content and excavation locations. The main content of this volume is divided into three parts: Preface, Special Essays on this Volume, Illustrations, and Illustration Descriptions.
