On September 12, 1745, the East India Company's G?teborg III, a large merchant ship laden with treasures from China, sank after hitting a reef upon reaching its home port. Two hundred years later, as large-scale salvage operations began on the G?teborg III, a plan to rebuild it emerged. Today, using modern technology combined with ancient shipbuilding techniques, after ten years of overcoming countless challenges, a replica of the old-fashioned sailing ship has been successfully reconstructed. This new G?teborg III will once again set sail for the distant land of China.
With rich historical and geographical knowledge and vivid narration, this book takes you aboard the Swedish sailing ship G?teborg III, exploring the earth-shaking events that unfolded along the maritime Silk Road from Sweden to China two hundred and sixty years ago.
