In addition to this, Yang Renkai's achievements include recovering lost imperial treasures from the Qing court, discovering the manuscript of "Strange Tales from a Chinese Studio," and researching ancient paintings in the Yematai Liao Tombs. In the 1980s, Yang Renkai, together with experts such as Xie Ziliu and Qi Gong, formed the "National Ancient Calligraphy and Painting Appraisal Group." Over eight years, they traveled across museums, antique shops, and libraries nationwide, authenticating and studying over 20,000 ancient calligraphy and paintings.
According to Xu Guangrong, the author of this book and the President of the Liaoning Biographical Literature Association, the creation of "Master of National Treasure Appraisal: Yang Renkai" took nine months to complete, with a total of 14 chapters and over 300,000 words, comprehensively elaborating on the extraordinary and winding life of the late Yang Renkai. Xu Guangrong said that to fully grasp the personality charm of the late Yang, he spent over three years in interview preparation, gathering firsthand materials from the subject himself and his relatives, friends, and colleagues. He also carefully studied Yang Renkai's more than 2 million words of writings, familiarizing himself with the many fields he explored, including the history of Chinese art, calligraphy, and the history of calligraphy and painting appraisal.
