The People's Literature Publishing House has placed great importance on the publication of Comrade Sun Li's works. Since its establishment in 1951, the publisher has released his long Record of Wind and Clouds, followed by works such as Picking Water Reeds, Hedong Pond, Literary Study, Short Essays on Literature, Village Songs, and the second and third installments of Record of Wind and Clouds, as well as the complete edition. Since the new era, in addition to reprints of the aforementioned works, the publisher has also released Essays on Sun Li, Selected Prose of Sun Li, The Insignificant, and The Treasury of Chinese Prose: Sun Li Volume, among other works by Sun Li.
To more comprehensively reflect Comrade Sun Li's literary achievements, in October 2003, with the support and assistance of Sun Li's family and the Tianjin Sun Li Research Association, the People's Literature Publishing House launched the publication of the Complete Works of Sun Li. Today, after years of effort, the 11-volume Complete Works of Sun Li have been successfully published, fulfilling our long-standing wish. This collection is the crystallization of Comrade Sun Li's life's work, providing readers and researchers with exquisite spiritual nourishment and contributing modestly to the nation's cultural heritage, which fills us with great satisfaction and honor.
The Complete Works of Sun Li includes his works from all periods of his life, totaling approximately 4 million words. It features newly collected lost writings, letters, and articles that were never previously compiled, making it the most comprehensive summary of Sun Li's works to date. In terms of arrangement, volumes 1 to 9 are organized in chronological order based on the publication dates of the works, while also considering categories, genres, and the word count of each volume. Volume 10 is categorized by genre and arranged in chronological order based on the publication or writing dates of the works. Volume 11 is organized by letter, arranged in chronological order based on the dates of correspondence with each recipient.
