How should the treatment be better if the testicles have nodules?

Patient's question:

What should I do if there are nodules in the testicles?

Doctor's answer:

This seems to be orchitis. In adults, it is often caused by the direct spread of epididymitis to the testis or by hematogenous infection. Clinically, it is commonly referred to as epididymo-orchitis. The diagnostic criteria are:
1. High fever, chills, and testicular pain.
2. Local scrotal redness and swelling, and testicular enlargement.
3. Elevated white blood cell count. It is recommended to have an ultrasound for confirmation.
Treatment includes:
1. Antibacterial and anti-inflammatory therapy. Early administration of sufficient, broad-spectrum antibiotics, such as a combination of cephalosporins and quinolones.
2. Bed rest, elevating the scrotum, local heat application, and physical therapy. A 1% lidocaine spermatic cord block injection can reduce pain.
3. If an abscess forms, it must be drained surgically.
Wishing you a speedy recovery.
