Patient's question:
I am 29 years old. Male. Married. I have a low frequency of sexual activity. I have been experiencing lower back pain for about a month. When I went to the hospital for a check-up, there was microscopic hematuria found. The doctor asked me to come back in a few days for another test. Due to business travel, I did not go. Now, I am here seeking advice from a renowned doctor. The symptoms started after a fever. During the day, my temperature is normal, but at night, it becomes high fever. When I visited the doctor, X-rays and urine/blood tests were performed, and blood was found in the urine. After taking medication, the symptoms of lower back pain began and have persisted to this day. Almost every night, I cannot sleep soundly because of the lower back pain, requiring multiple position changes during the night. Getting up in the morning and bending over is also difficult. I sincerely hope the esteemed doctor can provide guidance.Doctor's answer:
Lower back pain is commonly caused by kidney deficiency in clinical practice. If the kidney's essence is insufficient to nourish the tendons and bones or the meridians, the waist may experience poor blood and Qi flow, leading to spasms and pain. Therefore, to alleviate symptoms of kidney deficiency lower back pain, the key lies in regulating the kidney deficiency.Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) has a specific acupoint primarily used to treat kidney deficiency lower back pain, known as the "Waist Eye Point." TCM believes that rubbing the Waist Eye Point with the palm can strengthen the lower back, improve hearing and vision, and consolidate essence and nourish the kidneys.
If a kidney deficiency patient experiences a strong sense of distending pain when pressing the Waist Eye Point, and simple acupoint massage is insufficient to cure the condition, acupoint patch therapy can be used. Apply Dezhong Waist and Kidney Paste to the Guanyuan Point and Waist Eye Point to leverage the dual-regulating effects of medication and meridian points.
On one hand, stimulating these two strong-kidney acupoints allows the kidney-tonifying medication to act directly on the kidneys along the meridians, thereby warming the kidneys, boosting Yang Qi, and reinforcing the lower back. On the other hand, the medication is absorbed through the skin, directly targeting the local area for rapid pain relief and quick onset of action.
If the lower back pain is severe, use the patch for one month, once daily, with each application lasting 6 to 8 hours. Do not use continuously for more than 4 days at a time, and take a 1 to 2-day break before resuming use. If symptoms improve, the dosage can be reduced accordingly.
Additionally, it is essential to maintain a regular lifestyle, stay in a good mood, engage in frequent activity and exercise, and uphold healthy habits. Ensure proper posture when standing or sitting, avoid cold exposure to the waist and legs, and prevent overexertion.
