Features: Guo Dechang, male, professional painter, owner of Yegu Study, born in 1960, native of Wu'an, Hebei, currently residing in Beijing, member of the China Artists Association. His works have been selected for numerous domestic and international exhibitions, published, awarded, and collected. His solo and group exhibitions have been held in places such as Shijiazhuang, Zhengzhou, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Hefei, Tianjin, the National Art Museum of China, as well as in Japan and the United States. His works and critical articles have been published in periodicals such as Art, National Art Museum of China, China Fine Arts, Ink Frontier, Huachen Collection, Paintings of Famous Artists, and Famous Artists' Fan Paintings. His works have been included in China Artists, Contemporary Calligraphers, Painters, and Seal Carvers Dictionary, Contemporary Chinese Artists Dictionary, and Contemporary Chinese Artists Dictionary. He has published Guo Dechang's Freehand Flower and Bird Paintings, Contemporary Masters' Freehand Landscape Paintings Library, and his works such as Late Autumn were selected for the first national contemporary Chinese flower and bird painting invitation exhibition, Silent Mountain Waves for the eighth national fine arts exhibition, Ink Lotus for the national second flower and bird painting exhibition award, Drunk Autumn for the national seventeenth new works exhibition, Fragrance in Snowy Seas for the first national Beijing International Fine Arts Biennial Exhibition, "Hai Chao Cup" Chinese painting exhibition, Longevity of Chang'an for the national 2003 Chinese painting exhibition, Echoes of Yegu for the second national western "Land and Emotion" landscape and scenery painting exhibition, Autumn Charm for the "Vegetable Village Love" national Chinese painting nomination exhibition, Autumn Rain for the national 2004 Chinese painting exhibition award, and Yegu for the first national television Chinese painting competition award. In Guo Dechang's works, water, mountains, flowers, and birds are merely carriers for expressing themes, with the ultimate goal being the revelation of inner emotions and the spontaneous expression of the self. Therefore, his works invariably transcend the realities of life and the material world. Every mountain and stone, every flower and grass is imbued with the spirit of aesthetic ideals and the color of the soul.
