Is it good to do a urography during a stone attack?

Patient's question:

Two months ago, I had urinary system stones, and the severe pain attacks also occurred.

Doctor's answer:

Generally, intravenous urography is not recommended during the onset of urinary tract stone colic. On the one hand, during acute renal colic, intravenous urography shows poor contrast, only indicating acute renal damage but not clarifying the pathological morphology of the urinary tract. On the other hand, the contrast agent required for intravenous urography further exacerbates renal damage.
