The Hui people, who call themselves Huihui, Huimin, or Huijin, are a national community formed over a long history by various ethnic components from within and outside the country. The Hui are the most widely distributed ethnic group in China, primarily concentrated in the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, with significant populations also in Gansu, Qinghai, and the Central Plains regions.
The Manchu are a minority ethnic group in northern China. They are mainly distributed in Liaoning Province, with populations also found in Jilin, Heilongjiang, Hebei, Inner Mongolia, and major and medium-sized cities such as Beijing, Tianjin, Xi'an, and Chengdu. The total population of Manchu in China is 9.82 million.
Yunnan Manchu are primarily distributed in cities and prefectures such as Kunming, Baoshan, Simao, Chuxiong, Qujing, and Honghe. The province has 112 cities and counties with scattered Manchu populations. Baoshan City has three Manchu settlements, with the most concentrated one being Shilong Village in Xi Yi Township. In the 2000 Yunnan Provincial census, the Manchu population was recorded as 12,000.
The Mongols are an ancient minority ethnic group in northern China, with a long history and splendid culture. The total Mongol population in China is 4.807 million. The Mongols in Yunnan migrated from the vast grasslands of northern China to the towering mountains in the southwest over the course of history.
