2. Most titles of the materials follow the original titles, while a few are drafted by the editor based on the original intent or content. Official titles and titles on the title often have simplifications. If the original lacks the names of the issuer or recipient, the editor (research) and adds a note. Salutations like "Please accept my highest respect and sincere greetings" and formal phrases like "After verification, it is correct" at the end of the text are omitted without separate notes.
3. The sources of each material are noted at the end of the text or at the end of the attachment according to the original archive's classification name or code, volume, and page. For some files without page numbers in the original archive, only the volume is noted. Some files originally had numbers, which are retained as they are.
4. In the materials, foreign names, place names, ship names, etc., were originally translated according to the translation names used in the "China-France War" series edited by the Chinese History Society. In the "Main Volume," if there are two or more translation names, the editor selects the most common or the one with more accurate phonetic translation. New foreign names are translated by referring to some foreign name dictionaries to align with commonly used translations in modern history. All foreign names, place names, ship names, etc., are appended with their original text when they appear for the first time in this book.
5. In the materials involving Vietnamese and Chinese names and place names, some cannot be determined with an accurate translation. They are all marked with the original text or retained as they are.
