Series come in various formats. Among them, those that specialize in collecting the works of local scholars and related documents of a particular region are known as local literature series, also referred to as prefecture-county literature series or homeland literature series. Local literature series are a product of the mature stage of series development, as evidenced by the numerous homeland literature series that emerged during the Tang and Song Dynasties, especially in the Qing Dynasty. Local literature series play an irreplaceable role and value in understanding the history, geography, economy, and culture of a region, while also serving as comprehensive literature series that reflect many aspects of Chinese historical and cultural heritage.
