I want to know what to do if a child has kwashiorkor.

Patient's question:

Hello everyone, my child is nine months old, but he seems to dislike eating. Now he has become very thin and his immunity is also poor, often catching colds. What should I do? My child currently dislikes eating and also likes rubbing his nose and eyes with his hands. He frequently catches colds and has become very thin. I suspect whether he might have kwashiorkor?

Doctor's answer:

You should also check if the baby's stool is normal. If the stool is normal, there shouldn't be any major problems, possibly caused by the weather being too hot. If the stool is not normal, resembling scrambled eggs or tofu, then it indicates "ban." Here is a folk remedy for "ban": Use an iron pot to fry all the food the baby has eaten until it becomes charcoal, store it, and then simmer it with water until it boils. Give the child one to two doses daily, and it should be quite effective.
