Features: Since the Criminal Law of the People's Republic of China was revised on March 14, 1997, and came into effect on October 1 of the same year, it has been six years. During these six years, the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress has successively enacted one single criminal law, namely the Decision of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress on Punishing the Crime of Fraudulently Purchasing Foreign Exchange, Evading Customs Duties, and Illegally Trading in Foreign Exchange, four criminal law amendments, and six legislative interpretations. In addition, the Supreme People's Court and the Supreme People's Procuratorate have successively issued more than one hundred judicial interpretations compatible with the Criminal Code. These contents fully reflect the significant developments and changes in China's criminal legislation and criminal justice. These developments and changes have been reflected to varying degrees in some textbooks or other works. To ensure that these developments and changes in criminal legislation and criminal justice are comprehensively reflected in criminal law reference books and made accessible to more readers, this is the purpose of compiling the Practical Dictionary of Criminal Law. This dictionary includes over 2,100 entries, covering the basic and common terminology in the sub-discipline of civil and commercial law within the broader field of law. The explanations of entries generally adopt the prevailing views, and where it is necessary to introduce different scholarly opinions, they are objectively and briefly presented. The entries in this dictionary are organized according to the content system structure of civil and commercial law, and a classified index is provided. For the convenience of readers, a Pinyin index is appended to the main text. For some entries that require reference to other entries, the relevant entries to be referred to are generally noted in parentheses within the entry for easy consultation. Legal and regulatory references, except for those enclosed in book titles, are not enclosed in book titles. When views or original statements from other literature are cited in the explanations, the source is indicated only by the author's name and the title of the work or book in parentheses, without the need to specify the journal, issue number, publisher, or publication date. Translations adopt the more common usage, and where discrepancies in transliteration have persisted due to established conventions, they are retained as they are. The entries and references cited in this dictionary are limited to those published before the end of September 2003. The purpose of compiling this dictionary is to contribute to legal education and the popularization of civil and commercial law knowledge, providing a reference tool for legal professionals, students, and individuals from all walks of life to study civil and commercial law.
