What is semen blood?

Patient's question:

The semen ejected is red in the last week

Doctor's answer:

Hello; There are two situations; First; Physiological hematospermia, which is common in the following three cases. 1; During ejaculation, the seminal vesicle experiences strong spasmodic contractions, causing a sudden increase in pressure inside the seminal vesicle. When ejaculation ends, the contracted seminal vesicle relaxes, and the pressure inside drops sharply. This abrupt change can easily alter the permeability of capillaries in the seminal vesicle wall, allowing red blood cells to seep into the semen, resulting in the next ejaculation containing red blood cells. 2; Between two ejaculations, the seminal vesicle secretes fluid for self-refilling. If sexual activity is infrequent, the continuously accumulating secretion increases pressure inside the seminal vesicle. After ejaculation, the pressure drops sharply, causing capillaries to rupture and leading to hematospermia. 3; Systemic allergic reaction in semen, this condition is more common in men with allergic constitutions. Second; Pathological hematospermia 1. Seminal vesitis This is the most common cause of hematospermia. The seminal vesicle stores semen, and when it undergoes inflammatory changes, small blood vessels also experience inflammatory congestion, dilation, rupture, and bleeding, which then mix with the semen to form hematospermia. 2. Testicular or seminal vesicle pain If the testicles or seminal vesicles develop pain or swelling, hematospermia may occur. 3. Prostatitis Inflammatory changes in the prostate can cause microvessels to experience inflammatory congestion, rupture, and bleeding, leading to hematospermia. 3. Prostatitis Inflammatory changes in the prostate can cause microvessels to experience inflammatory congestion, rupture, and bleeding, leading to hematospermia.
