Features: The title of this book, "China's Problems," is intended to identify the rich and real circumstances faced by a knowledge-seeking individual in the current era, as well as the pure attitude of a "researcher" in the face of such circumstances. Indeed, we are living in an age full of "problems." In other words, we can also say that we are in an era of reform, development, and vitality. The reason for naming it "China's Problems" is that in an era without reform or change, there would be no problems, only answers. Therefore, "problems" are the vitality and hope of our time, and discovering, revealing, and researching "problems" must rely on the responsibility and conscience of intellectuals in this era. As for effectively solving problems, that is the responsibility of even broader segments of the population in this era. A group of Chinese intellectuals with diverse academic backgrounds but unique insights and foresight, with reason, passion, and profound, sharp honesty, confront the issues head-on, speak out for their beliefs, and face the times, its flaws, and its realities, speaking plainly and directly, until they extract the poison of authoritarianism from traditional culture, trace the roots of injustice; or analyze the intense of contemporary social, rediscover the value orientation of intellectuals; or persistently explore the spiritual resources of our time, raising the banner of ultimate concern; or precisely analyze the latent crises in various fields of China's economy, rule of law, media, and education, uncovering positive factors and healthy forces; or predict the challenges and tests China will face after joining the WTO, as well as the ways to respond and what is possible. Although some views may not be fully shared by readers, including the editor-in-chief, in the process of transforming real-world problems into academic insights, the scholars' meticulous efforts, their loyalty to scientific principles, and their outstanding uniqueness among the of ideas are cherished and respected. It should be said that this is a collective and important statement by intellectuals stepping out of their studies and into the public sphere. Planned by Lin Xianzhi and edited by Li Jing, this book not only collects various concerns, insights, true knowledge, questions, wisdom, hopes, and common sense but also pursues the rational depth of thought and the approachability of expression, making it easy to understand and deeply engaging, in order to call for more citizens to care about, contribute insights to, and independently think about China's real-world problems.
