Patient's question:
I've been feeling very unwell these days. Mainly, during sexual intercourse with my wife, I suddenly felt intense pain at the moment of ejaculation, and there were actually blood streaks in my semen. I was very scared and quickly went to the hospital for a check-up. The test results said I had seminal vesiculitis.Doctor's answer:
The treatment of seminal vesiculitis can refer to the following methods:(1) Select appropriate antibiotics: Acute seminal vesiculitis should be treated until prescription symptoms completely disappear, followed by continuing medication for 1–2 weeks; chronic or intermittent seminal vesiculitis requires continued medication for more than half a year to consolidate the therapeutic effect.
(2) Local targeted treatment: Berberine iontophoresis, using 1‰ berberine solution (milliliters) for enema after defecation, soaking gauze pads with this medication and placing them in the perineal area, connected to the positive electrode of a direct current therapeutic device, with the negative electrode applied to the pubic bone. The treatment duration is 20 minutes per session, once daily, with 10 sessions constituting one course. Warm water sitz baths (42°C water temperature) and perineal heat applications can improve local blood circulation and aid in resolving inflammation. Avoid prolonged sitting to prevent pelvic congestion.
(3) Bed rest: Administer laxative medications to ensure regular bowel movements.
(4) Avoid excessive sexual activity to reduce congestion in the genital organs. Patients with chronic seminal vesiculitis may undergo regular seminal vesicle and prostate massage (1–2 times per week) to enhance blood circulation in the prostate and seminal vesicles and promote the discharge of inflammatory substances.
(5) Establish a regular lifestyle: Balance work and rest, and avoid smoking, alcohol, and spicy, irritating foods.
(6) Provide psychological support to patients to alleviate their concerns, especially those with hematospermia, and boost their confidence in overcoming the disease.
