Patient's question:
The hospital examination said it was benign prostatic hyperplasia, with a creatinine level of over 170, bilateral kidney hydronephrosis, a small amount of fluid in the cavity, severe spinal deformation, and osteoporosis. After staying in the hospital for 8 days, I went home to rest and have been doing so ever since. When discharged, a catheter was left in place, which was changed once in the middle. Now the catheter has been removed, but it has been discovered that I have lost bladder control.Doctor's answer:
Hello: It is recommended that you undergo a renal function test.Treatment of Renal Hydronephrosis:
Any narrowing or obstruction in the urinary tract, as well as normal dysfunction of nerves and muscles, can impede urine flow, leading to urinary obstruction. As urine cannot be expelled smoothly, pressure gradually increases in the upper parts of the tract, causing dilation of the tubes. Eventually, this results in renal hydronephrosis, expansion of the kidneys, thinning of renal parenchyma, and decline in renal function. If bilateral obstruction occurs, it may lead to severe consequences such as uremia.
Treatment Principles:
1. Remove the cause and relieve the obstruction.
2. If the condition is too poor or the cause is complex, percutaneous renal drainage (nephrostomy) can be performed initially.
3. In cases of severe hydronephrosis or pyonephrosis with good function in the contralateral kidney, nephrectomy may be performed.
