What is the alkaline phosphatase index?

Patient's question:

My daughter is 10 years old, and her alkaline phosphatase level is 230. The rest of the indicators are basically within the normal range. Is there any problem? Please advise the experts. Thank you!

Doctor's answer:

Your alkaline phosphatase is slightly elevated. If other transaminases are normal, treatment is not required for the time being. If other transaminases are abnormal, liver cell damage should be considered, and liver-protective treatment should be administered while identifying the underlying cause.
When alkaline phosphatase levels are elevated, it may be due to conditions such as osteomalacia, osteoporosis, rickets, the healing phase of fractures, osteocellular carcinoma, malignant bone tumors, and bone metastases of malignant tumors.
When alkaline phosphatase levels are elevated, it may also be associated with conditions like liver cysts, hepatic tuberculosis, liver cirrhosis, cholestatic hepatitis, obstructive jaundice, secondary liver cancer, and primary liver cancer.
