Can men with varicocele have children?

Patient's question:

In October 2014, an ultrasound examination revealed varicocele on the left side. In August 2015, an ultrasound examination similarly detected varicocele on the left side. Semen analysis showed two abnormal results. First, the semen volume was less than 1, whereas the normal range is 1.5. The forward motility was 30%, with the normal range being 32%. All other parameters were normal.

Doctor's answer:

Varicocele refers to the condition where the veins in the spermatic cord of a male become dilated and tortuous due to impaired venous. It is a common disease among young and middle-aged men, characterized by the expansion, tortuosity, and elongation of the pampiniform plexus (vein vascular) in the spermatic cord caused by venous blood stasis. The incidence rate in the male population is 10-15%, accounting for 15-20% of male infertility. It can affect pregnancy, and patients should seek treatment as soon as possible.
