Features: History is a long river, and today is always a continuation of yesterday. Throughout history, wise people have followed its laws, understanding the dialectical relationship between inheritance and development, while foolish ones have always tried to smash everything and build new foundations. The latter inevitably suffer head injuries and bloodshed; this is an objective law that cannot be changed by people's will. In simple terms, this law is called evolution. This book discusses the evolution of administrative divisions, and the historical administrative divisions of Yangzhou have evolved according to the laws of evolution. Based on relevant materials, this book has been organized to some extent, serving as a means to review the past and gain new insights. The evolution of Yangzhou's administrative divisions has been recorded in historical gazettes, which are the foundation of modern research. However, gazettes can only record the essentials and are prone to omissions and errors. This book follows the principle of elaborating on the brief, supplementing the missing, and correcting the errors, aiming to contribute to the study of Yangzhou's administrative history. This book is titled "Notes" and is divided into three parts: "Discussions on Evolution," "Supplementary Discussions," and "Appendix Discussions." The "Evolution Discussions" section primarily follows the historical timeline to describe the evolution; the "Supplementary Discussions" section conducts thematic explorations on the cross-section of administrative evolution; and the remaining unelaborated matters are discussed in the "Appendix Discussions."
