Author: New Collection of the Masters of the Hundred Schools
Publisher:
Publication Date: 2001-04-01
Features: The "New Collection of the Masters of the Hundred Schools" is a systematic review of the works of the Masters of the Hundred Schools after the founding of the People's Republic of China. Compared to the "Collection of the Masters of the Hundred Schools" published during the Republican era, the later version is more refined and is currently the best ancient philosophical resource. This book is published in two volumes. The first volume includes the same works as the old "Collection of the Masters of the Hundred Schools," which are frequently read or consulted by researchers. Each work selected is the best available annotated version to date. For a very small number of works without annotations, separate annotations are provided. Some books include multiple annotated versions, each with extensive notes. To maintain consistency in style, generally only annotated versions written in standard or relatively simple language are included, except for this book. The second volume collects works outside the scope of the first volume. Most of these works do not have existing annotated versions. For those that require annotations, they should be annotated; the rest are selected for collation based on their quality. Many of the works in this volume are incomplete or fragmented. During the compilation process, different approaches are taken depending on the situation: some are selected from existing annotated versions, while others require supplementation or recompilation. Both the first and second volumes of this book plan to be published first as paperback editions, with each volume priced individually and released successively. After all volumes are completed, a hardcover combined edition will be published. Each paperback volume includes a tentative list of works for the corresponding volume at the end of each book, providing readers with an overview of the entire series.
