Is it normal for children to sweat a lot?

Patient's question:

My child usually doesn't feel uncomfortable, but he sweats a lot when sleeping. He eats and drinks well, and I just want to know if it's normal for him to sweat frequently?

Doctor's answer:

Infancy is characterized by a highly active metabolism, and children are naturally energetic and active. Some may not be able to rest even after going to bed at night, so sweating on the head can occur even after falling asleep. The term "physiological sweating" refers to sweating during sleep in children who are developing well, are in good health, and have no underlying illnesses. Some parents give their children milk, malted milk powder, or similar drinks before bedtime. After falling asleep, the body produces a significant amount of heat, which is primarily dissipated through sweating. Additionally, high room temperature or excessive warmth can also cause sweating during sleep in children. These are all examples of physiological sweating.
