Features: The academic conference on the history of China's ethnic relations has successfully concluded. In accordance with the requirements of the conference organizers, the Department of History at Central University for Nationalities was responsible for editing the conference proceedings, which were published as the academic journal Ethnic History Studies. The editing work of the proceedings was completed on September 20, 2001. In line with the principle of "freedom of thought," the editorial board decided that all papers from this conference, except those already published in relevant journals, those submitted only with abstracts without full texts, and those not related to ethnic relations, would be included in this proceedings. To encourage scholars to express their views freely and foster a vibrant academic atmosphere, the editors, in addition to making necessary revisions in writing and format, did not impose their own judgment on the selection of paper perspectives or content.
