Features: The second is the School of Confucian Ethics and Reason. Shi Jie criticized the Xikun School, opposing the idea of separating literary figures from Confucianism. He believed that Yang Yi and others: "made the people of the world blind, unable to see the way of the Duke of Zhou, Confucius, Mencius, Yang Xiong, the Master of the Chinese Classics, and Han Li Bu; made the people of the world deaf, unable to hear the way of the Duke of Zhou, Confucius, Mencius, Yang Xiong, the Master of the Chinese Classics, and Han Li Bu." ("On Strange Sayings") He also argued that literature should not be separated from classical studies. He believed that the prevalence of the Xikun School: "made the world unable to study the classics of the Book of Documents, such as 'Canons,' 'Muses,' 'Yu Gong,' and 'Hong Bo'; the classics of the Book of Songs, such as 'Odes' and 'Hymns'; the classics of the Spring and Autumn Annals; and the 'Hexagrams' and 'Ten Wings' of the Book of Changes."
