Patient's question:
Is there any convenient Western medicine for scrotal eczema? I saw too many complicated treatment methods online.Doctor's answer:
(1) Antihistamines: Chlorpheniramine 4 mg, oral, 2-3 times daily, or 5-20 mg IM per dose; Diphenhydramine 25-50 mg, oral, 2-3 times daily, or 20 mg IM per dose.(2) Sedative and tranquilizers: Diazepam 2.5-5 mg, oral, 2-3 times daily, or 10 mg IM per dose; Phenobarbital 15-30 mg, oral, 2-3 times daily.
(3) Corticosteroids: These drugs are used for generalized scrotal eczema or certain refractory cases. Any one may be selected for short-term use, and the dose should be gradually tapered after symptoms improve. Examples include prednisone, dexamethasone, and hydrocortisone, which may be used as appropriate.
(4) Calcium preparations: Vitamin D calcium 1-2 mL, IM, 1-2 times daily; or 10% calcium gluconate 10 mL, diluted for IV injection or infusion.
