Patient's question:
My son is over two years old. It seems like his penis has phimosis, and it's inflamed with white discharge inside. What could be the cause?Test results: Inflammation
Previous treatment and effectiveness: Applied gentamicin, but it didn't seem to work.
What kind of help do you need? What medicine would be better to use?
Doctor's answer:
Circumcitalitis is generally treated both internally and externally. For the treatment of acute superficial balanoposthitis and annular purulent balanoposthitis, erythromycin and tetracycline are the first-line medications. Typically, 0.5g is taken four times daily. For trichomoniasis-induced balanoposthitis, metronidazole is the preferred treatment, taken at 0.2g three times daily, alternating for 10 days. For balanoposthitis caused by Candida albicans, it is commonly treated with griseofulvin or itraconazole. Griseofulvin is administered at 100,000 to 200,000 units twice daily, while itraconazole is taken at 100mg twice daily for 7 days.
