Features: The inaugural annual conference of the "Cross-Strait Management Symposium," jointly organized by the School of Management at the University of Economics and Management of Southwest China, Tamkang University in Taiwan, and Kaohsiung University of Technology, was successfully held in Chengdu from October 11 to 12, 2002. This conference coincided with the 50th anniversary celebration of the University of Economics and Management of Southwest China, and the successful symposium added brilliance to the university's anniversary research activities. Taiwanese academic colleagues possess extensive experience in the market economy, rigorous academic standards, and abundant market information resources. We sincerely hope to engage in productive exchanges and cooperation with the management academia in Taiwan, including continuing to hold annual symposiums for cross-strait management scholars, promoting academic exchanges between the two sides, and jointly advancing the development and progress of management disciplines. The collected essays in this book cover a wide range of topics, including human resource management, family businesses, banking and financial e-commerce, investments of Taiwanese businesses in mainland China, knowledge management, commercial chains, new stock pricing, product differentiation, and informatization management. The theories are closely tied to practice, demonstrating depth and innovation, truly making the themes broad and the content fascinating.
