Features: This textbook primarily addresses introductory issues in law. Its main feature lies in the fact that the textbook's development is based on the reform of traditional foundational theory teaching in law. The Department of Jurisprudence at Southwest University of Political Science and Law began this teaching reform in 1996, transforming the single course of "Foundational Theory of Law" or "Jurisprudence" into two separate courses: "Introduction to Law" and "Jurisprudence," along with their respective teaching models. "Introduction to Law" serves as a foundational course for undergraduate students who are new to law, explaining basic legal theories and concepts before other specialized law courses are introduced. This reform was awarded the First Prize for Teaching Reform Achievements by the Chongqing Municipal People's Government, and "Introduction to Law" was included in the unified college textbook series for liberal arts in 1997 and 1998. Since its first publication in December 1997, this textbook has undergone three revisions. The current edition is the fourth version of the textbook. The fourth edition represents significant revisions based on the third edition. The revision of the textbook content stems from both the development of understanding and theory, where the political and class connotations in the fundamental concepts and theories of law have gradually been weakened, emphasizing the theoretical and academic nature of legal theory. Additionally, the revision reflects the authors' stringent demands for textbook quality and the teaching process itself. The textbook has been reorganized to adjust the theoretical key points and content of certain chapters. The authors hope that through this revision, the textbook will continue to improve.
