Features: The origins and initial implementation of the (War Loss Survey) are partially covered, with the main materials organized around two aspects. The first is the causes of the, various public and private loss surveys conducted before the establishment of the (War Loss Survey Committee), and the second is the basic situation of China's, the guiding principles and policies of the. This section primarily reflects the work and evolution of the before its relocation to Nanjing before the war's end. The second part covers the organization and work overview of the, divided into four sections: the central institutional setup and its work overview, the Nanjing institutional setup and its work overview, the survey of martyrs and their families in Nanjing, and the statistical survey of government agencies and organizations in Nanjing. After the war, the moved its office to Nanjing, and institutions were gradually established in various provinces and cities, including Nanjing, which also set up the Nanjing. Large-scale work, including the statistical surveys of casualties and property losses, was thus carried out. Through the methods, materials on the (Japanese atrocities in Nanjing), the Nanjing work reports, the survey of Nanjing martyrs and their families, the Nanjing (survey of martyrs and their families in Nanjing), the Nanjing survey of martyrs for commendation and special relief, and the Nanjing gardens and temples property loss reports, people can understand the immense suffering of the Nanjing people during the Nanjing Massacre. These materials reflect the full scope of the committee's work in Nanjing, including the surveys and operations of municipal governments, township offices, and local officials regarding the Nanjing Massacre case. Without a doubt, the of the Nanjing Massacre was a large-scale and highly effective survey conducted by the Nationalist government and the Nanjing municipal government during the Republic of China period. The statistical figures we later proposed regarding the losses of the Nanjing Massacre were all based on the results of this period's surveys. However, we should also note that due to the 8-year delay in the survey and the complexity of the issues, as well as the varying levels of education among Nanjing citizens, phenomena such as (substituted filling) and (incorrect or missing entries) were common. Therefore, the materials we collected are recorded as they are, and readers are advised to use their judgment. The third part focuses on the statistical survey of property losses of Nanjing citizens in the Nanjing Massacre case, primarily consisting of property loss report forms filled out by district offices, townships, and village committees. These materials are the most fundamental sources of property loss of Nanjing citizens in the Nanjing Massacre case. They generally include details such as the victim's and property owner's information, the name of the reporter, their position and contact information, and their relationship with the victim, all to enhance the evidentiary nature of the reports. The reporters' signatures or fingerprints were also required to strengthen their legal validity. All the surveys and statistics truly reflect the immense losses suffered by Nanjing citizens in terms of population and property due to Japan's invasion of China.
