Features: Law is an ancient discipline. However, China's legal education is relatively young. The numerous controversies surrounding the reform goals of legal education and the obvious surplus of law graduates have compelled people to ask: Is the educational model of the current 300-plus law schools unified or diverse? What is the path for the development of other law schools beyond the top-tier institutions? How can engineering universities, which have established law programs under the influence of the "Rule of Law" initiative, develop their own unique characteristics within their engineering framework? All these are issues that must be pondered and explored. To stand out and secure a place in the fierce competition of China's legal discipline development, the School of Law at China Jiliang University must first cultivate its irreplaceable or hard-to-replace characteristics to compensate for its relatively late start and weaker overall strength. To forge such characteristics, the current focus must be on leveraging the unique advantages of the law school's mother body—combining China Jiliang University's status as the only specialized institution within the former National Bureau of Technical Supervision and the current General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine system, with its location in Zhejiang, a major economic province. This approach involves expanding research fields at the intersection of industry-specific knowledge and local knowledge, and cultivating distinct research strengths, landmark achievements, and academic influence in emerging, interdisciplinary, blank, or nascent areas of legal studies.
