Features: "The Tao Te Ching," also known as "Tao De Jing," is a classic of Taoism, traditionally attributed to Lao Dan, a person from the late Spring and Autumn period in Chu. The complete text consists of 81 chapters. "The Tao Te Ching" is a collection of philosophical discourses that systematically expounds Lao Dan's views on the universe, politics, and epistemology. "The Tao" is the fundamental category of Lao Dan's philosophical thought. Lao Dan believed that "The Tao" is the origin of the universe, independent of anything else, and constantly changes in a cyclical manner. "De," on the other hand, is the manifestation of "The Tao," representing its practical application in life, society, and politics. This book includes one of the most influential English translations of "The Tao Te Ching," with some corrections made during its inclusion. At the end of the book, there is the Mawangdui Han tomb scroll version of "The Tao Te Ching," unearthed in Changsha in 1972.
