Fortunately, the title "Academic Edition" provides the author with greater freedom in this selection, although the author has also considered every necessary detail in line with the historical development. However, regardless of the approach, the author hopes readers do not treat the content of this volume as a "textbook" of modern analytic philosophy (as it is not suitable for use as a textbook), but rather as a specialized study on the history of the development of analytic philosophy.
The reason the title of this volume was ultimately determined as Modern Anglo-American Analytic Philosophy is entirely because, in modern Anglo-American philosophy, "analytic philosophy" is no longer a name for a doctrine or school, but rather a broader summary of the overall research methods and intellectual orientations that constitute Anglo-American philosophy. To Anglo-American philosophers, "analytic philosophy" is almost synonymous with "philosophy." Without a doubt, the title of this volume does not mean that we have completely excluded philosophical ideas in contemporary Anglo-American philosophy that differ from or even oppose analytic philosophy. On the contrary, we examine these diverse ideas in relation to analytic philosophy, attempting to reveal the pluralistic characteristics of the development of modern Anglo-American philosophy through this approach.
