Features: God only holds half of me, and the harder I work, the larger the half in my hands. A person who never despairs in the face of misfortune is destined never to be crushed by life. From the perspective of a literary enthusiast, this book is an enlightening guide in plain language for those who love literature, serving as an excellent place to imitate and absorb nourishment. I don’t know how to write, to be precise, I don’t know how to use the right words to weave together the emotions of this year, to hang them like dazzling crystals without losing their essence, for you to share and understand. As I wrote these scorching words of August, I suddenly noticed that many unfamiliar small flowers were blooming in clusters outside the window—red, yellow, pink, and white, a riot of vibrant colors. Oh my, when did these flowers bloom? Such a fierce and fiery momentum suggests they couldn’t have been this way for only a few days. I don’t know if these flowers bloomed this beautifully throughout the year, but if they did, I should thank them. I can smell the air filled with sweet fragrances, and a beautiful phrase suddenly came to mind: Flowers never fade! Flowers never fade. Flowers never fade! I think I can finally calm down and tell you all the countless stories that happened this year. I want to say that no matter what happens in the future, every little detail, every drop of this year, I will never forget again.
A week before the start of senior year, there was a parent-teacher meeting. It was a very serious meeting, with no absences or latecomers. The teachers stirred up almost all the parents’ emotions during the meeting. The importance of senior year is beyond question—after all, it’s said that "Success or failure depends on senior year." Whether the students had previously shone brightly or failed miserably, the slim young homeroom teacher, leaning against the podium, delivered an inspiring two hours, urging us to believe that anything is possible. Miracles or disasters would unfold dramatically this year. To help each student clearly understand their class, grade, district, and city rankings, the school meticulously created a performance ranking table for grades 10 and 11. Now that I think about it, I have to admit that the table was truly exquisite. It included total and scaled scores, rankings, comparisons with grade averages, even carefully designed performance trend charts, and a detailed analysis of overall rankings at the end. The paper was crammed with dense information, a testament to their meticulous effort.
Father returned from school with a grim face, the situation as bleak as I had feared: 190th in the grade. A terrifying position. "There’s still hope. The teachers said anything is possible." Father said he believed in me, but I didn’t know if I should believe in myself again. However, there was no turning back. We were like chess pawns that had crossed the river—we couldn’t go back. The only thing I could do was gallop forward, strive to catch up, to live up to my parents, my teachers, and most importantly, to live up to myself. P3-4
