How to treat high jaundice in newborns?

Patient's question:

My baby is currently in the intensive care unit, with poor appetite, high jaundice, and blood infection tests today. There is also another condition called ABO hemolysis. I am so upset. What should I do? Is this okay? The baby hasn't been born for 48 hours yet.

Doctor's answer:

Hemolytic disease of the newborn refers to a kind of allogenic immune hemolytic reaction caused by incompatibility of blood types between mother and child. Infants with hemolytic disease of the newborn develop jaundice earlier and should be given phototherapy in a timely manner. When jaundice progresses rapidly, unconjugated bilirubin in serum exceeds 342 μmol/L, or when it does not reach 342 μmol/L but severe neurological abnormalities appear, active exchange transfusion should be administered. If hemolytic anemia occurs during the treatment process, blood transfusion therapy is required. If hemolytic jaundice and sepsis are considered as children in the aforementioned conditions, they can be treated with medication.
