Features: Currently, discrimination in China's employment field is still widespread and severe, and legislation urgently needs improvement. In-depth discussions in this field can provide a crucial theoretical and research foundation for China to develop anti-discrimination legislation. In August 2005, the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress reviewed and approved the International Labour Organization's Core Convention No. 111, the "Convention on Discrimination (Employment and Occupation)." The Employment Promotion Law is also in the process of being formulated. Employment discrimination has, to some extent, attracted close attention from the Chinese government and experts. The publication of this book in this context is timely. This academic monograph is co-authored by at least 25 experts and scholars and is far more comprehensive than a collection of papers or individual works. It has a theoretical system and inherent structural connections, and in the process of designing effective measures to combat employment discrimination, it focuses on solving the following four key issues: defining discrimination; understanding the basic international standards of non-discrimination; analyzing existing discrimination issues in China and seeking solutions from legal, policy, and sociological perspectives; comparing and learning from the anti-discrimination experiences of other countries. The structure, content, and chapters of this book are arranged and designed based on the above ideas and different stages. Through research and analysis of China's discrimination issues from various perspectives, as well as comparative studies and mutual learning between Chinese and foreign anti-discrimination legislation theories and practices, it explores methods to address employment discrimination.
