Is circumcision necessary?

Patient's question:

I am divorced. My foreskin is a bit long, but it doesn't completely cover the glans. My wife had mild cervical erosion recently, and she says it's my fault. Do I have to get a circumcision?

Doctor's answer:

Excessive foreskin is prone to accumulating smegma, which, when exposed to the glans penis for a long time, especially the corona region, can easily lead to balanitis and posthitis. Additionally, prolonged stimulation of the glans by the foreskin can enhance its sensitivity, resulting in premature ejaculation. During sexual activity, it is also more likely to cause recurrent phimosis. From the perspective of preventing transmission and improving sexual quality, it is recommended to undergo circumcision at an early stage. Our Maternal and Child Plastic Surgery Department adopts the Korean-style circumcising technique, which takes only 20 minutes to complete, resulting in a neat and aesthetically pleasing appearance, while also promoting hygiene and health.
