Author Introduction: Yang Shuntai was born in Shanghai in 1947 and is a member of the China Artists Association. He graduated from the graduate program at the Shanghai University of Art and Design. He is currently the Director of the Art and Design Department and a professor at the School of Art and Design at Shanghai University of Technology.
Yang began publishing artworks in 1965. In 1972, his gouache painting "He Shouldn’t Miss Class" was purchased by former U.S. President Nixon. In 1989, his comic strip "A Day of Happiness" was selected for the 7th National Art Exhibition of China. In 1991, his propaganda poster "Offering Love to You" won the third prize in the 1991 National Propaganda Poster Exhibition. In 1993, the Liberation Daily and Shanghai People's Fine Arts Publishing House jointly held an exhibition of Yang Shuntai's paintings, attended by Chen Zhili. In 1993, he created the oil painting stamp "Commemorating the 100th Birthday of Soong Ching-ling," which was issued by the People's Republic of China Postal Service and personally signed by General Secretary Jiang Zemin with a hand-drawn cover. In 1994, his watercolor painting "Surrounded" was selected for the 8th National Art Exhibition and won the Shanghai Excellence Award. In 1996, he designed the stamps and miniature sheets "Shanghai Pudong," which were issued by the People's Republic of China Postal Service and won the Best Stamp Award of 1996.
On February 7, 1998, his watercolor painting "Rainy Town" was selected for the "Exhibition of Fine Watercolors by Contemporary Shanghai Artists" in Nagano, Japan. In 1999, he held an exhibition and gave lectures in the UK. In 1999, his watercolor painting "Spring" was selected for the 9th National Art Exhibition. In 2000, he was featured in the television special "Seeking the Notes of Painting – Painter Yang Shuntai," produced by the Shanghai Xinhua News Agency. In 2000, he won the bronze award at the 5th National Watercolor and Pastel Exhibition. In 2001, he traveled with the Shanghai Artists Delegation to Russia and Egypt. In 2001, his historical oil painting "Sun Yat-sen Meeting with Li Dazhao" was permanently collected by the Sun Yat-sen in Shanghai. Over the past decade, his works have been purchased by collectors in the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Japan, Canada, and Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan.
