How to deal with varicocele

Patient's question:

A lump in the testicles while walking, disappears when sleeping

Doctor's answer:

Varicocele refers to the dilation, tortuosity, and elongation of the pampiniform plexus (vein vascular) due to blood stasis in the spermatic vein. Varicocele can be accompanied by testicular atrophy and impaired sperm production, leading to male infertility.
Mild varicocele without symptoms does not require treatment.
Recommendations:
Non-surgical treatment: For mild varicocele or those accompanied by neurasthenia, measures such as scrotal support and cold compresses can be applied.
Surgical treatment: For severe varicocele, continuous sperm count below 20 million per cubic centimeter for three consecutive times, or testicular atrophy; or when the varicose veins disappear when lying flat, high ligation of the spermatic vein can be performed.
