She stated that the opportunity to save history will not come again, and her investigation will continue. Matsuo Kazuko introduced that the investigation and collection of testimonies from perpetrators and victims in both China and Japan were almost carried out simultaneously. Since October 1997, she spent more than four years setting up a "Nanjing Massacre Information Hotline" in six cities in Japan, including Tokyo, Nagoya, Osaka, and Hiroshima. During the period from 1999 to 2002, Matsuo Kazuko repeatedly traveled to China to collect testimonies. In August 2004, the Memorial Hall of the Victims in Nanjing of the Japanese Invading Army awarded her the "Special Contribution Award for the Study of Nanjing Massacre History" in recognition of her outstanding contributions to the investigation and research of the Nanjing Massacre history over the past decade.
