The Modern (Lower) volume focuses on the two World Wars after the human world entered the 20th century, the October Revolution in Russia that established socialist states, and the scientific and technological revolution that transformed human economic and social life as well as ideological concepts. The Contemporary volume is based on an analysis of the fundamental contradictions in the post-war world, reflecting the development process and characteristics of this interconnected yet contradictory unified whole.
