Patient's question:
I went to a hospital in Weinan for a check-up and found I have a prostatic cyst. What are the hazards of a prostatic cyst? If there are any hazards, I would like to postpone treatment for now.Doctor's answer:
This disease may sometimes cause thick secretions to flow from the urethra. Digital rectal examination can detect a fluctuating sensation in the prostate, although it often appears in later stages. The hazards of prostatic cysts occasionally involve abscess rupture into the urethra, rectum, perineum, or periurethral space, leading to connective tissue inflammation. However, some patients may not have fever. The main hazard of prostatic cysts is lower urinary tract obstruction, and many patients also have epididymitis and orchitis. Prostatic cysts are formed by the obstruction of ducts or acini in the prostate, leading to the accumulation of prostatic secretions. The severity of clinical symptoms is related to the size of the cyst. As the cyst fluid increases, the local or entire prostate gland swells, compressing nearby rectum and urethra, which can cause difficulties in defecation and urination. Due to the possibility of infection and stone formation, larger cysts can compress the urethra, leading to urinary difficulties. Common symptoms include urgency, frequency, difficulty urinating, thin urine stream, and urinary retention. When accompanied by inflammation, it can affect semen to varying degrees, thereby impacting normal fertility.
