Patient's question:
I went to the hospital for a thorough check-up the day before yesterday and was told I have varicocele. It's really painful to have it recur. How did I end up getting such a disease? Currently, I'm considering surgery. Does surgery have any side effects?Doctor's answer:
Asymptomatic mild varicocele does not require treatment. For mild varicocele or those accompanied by neurasthenia, measures such as scrotal cold compresses can be applied. For more severe varicocele, where sperm count remains below 20 million for three consecutive times or testicular atrophy occurs; and for varicocele that disappears when lying flat, the inguinal high ligation of the internal spermatic vein can be performed.Recommendation: It is best to consult and undergo treatment at a reputable large hospital. Seek timely medical attention at a formal hospital for a thorough examination by a doctor to determine the degree of varicocele before targeted treatment.
The spermatic cord on the left side is relatively longer, and venous valve inflammation tends to recur, which can lead to varicocele. Varicocele is prone to cause infertility.
