Wen Suchen also consciously takes on the mission of preaching divine teachings, urging outlaws to abandon evil and embrace goodness, and advising courtesans to understand shame and dignity, as seen in the 71st chapter where Wen Suchen says to Fei Niang: "Yesterday, my younger brother explained the meaning of shame and dignity to that surname woman, transforming a lustful girl into a chaste one. Now, I will explain the meaning of natural disposition to Sister En, transforming an outlaw girl into a filial one." This novel also uses the high or low moral standards to explain and verify the rise and fall of society and the fortune and misfortune of life.
This Wild Man Unveils the Truth is divided into three volumes and is a long novel, consisting of twenty volumes and one hundred fifty-four chapters. Written by the Qing Dynasty author Xia Jingqu (1705–1787). Jingqu, styled Erming and also known as Maoxiu, was from Jiangyin, Jiangsu. During the Qianlong era, he attempted the imperial examination for scholars with outstanding literary talent but failed. Consequently, he had to seek employment as a clerk in prominent families, which also allowed him to travel extensively across the country, gaining rich life experiences. Wild Man Unveils the Truth was completed in the middle of the Qianlong era and is his work from his later years. The original book used the twenty-character title "Excelling in martial and literary arts, unmatched under heaven; refining virtuous men to cast history, a wondrous book" for each volume. The author held this book in high regard and was quite proud of it. The entire work spans 1.4 million words, making it a substantial long novel in Qing Dynasty fiction. It features multiple plotlines that run throughout the story, comprehensively reflecting the author's ideological inclinations, moral ideals, and political views.
