Erythema of the prepuce healing wound

Patient's question:

About two weeks ago, I had acute balanitis with rust and pus, so I went to the urology department. They prescribed a bottle of povidone-iodine and erythromycin ointment. After about a week, the rusted areas started to form scabs and stopped oozing pus. However, the originally rusted areas are still red in the morning, and sometimes they turn purple at night. It has been about five or six days since I stopped applying any medication. There is no pain or itching, but the red area hasn't expanded. Is this a healing balanitis wound?

Doctor's answer:

You can take a bath. This should be a sign that the wound is almost healing! It is recommended to apply some anti-inflammatory medication and avoid spicy foods! For patients with balanitis, in addition to professional treatment, you can use home remedies as supplementary treatment. In daily diet, it is crucial to avoid being overly hungry or full, and never overeat.
