Author: Jian Bozan, Editor-in-Chief
Publisher:
Publish Date: 2006-09-01
Features: The Outline of Chinese History was decided upon by the 1961 meeting of the Higher Education Literature and Arts Textbook Selection Plan, and commissioned by Professor Jian Bozan to organize the writing of it as a textbook for Chinese general history in higher education literature and arts. During the writing and discussion process, Professor Jian Bozan frequently discussed issues such as format, theoretical application, and historical source evaluation with the writing team members. He repeatedly emphasized the need to adhere to a historical perspective, use historical facts to explain issues, and base the arguments on solid scientific research. In the final draft, he meticulously reviewed and polished every word. All of this fully reflects his dedication as an editor-in-chief and his serious attitude toward historical science. In 1982, at the request of readers, the book was divided into two volumes. It was revised and reissued in 1994. In 2006, a second revision was conducted and published by Peking University Press. These revisions were made while preserving the original features, incorporating new research findings, and making appropriate adjustments and additions to some content, all in an effort to ensure the book aligns with current research levels and teaching needs.
