Can early prostatitis heal on its own?

Patient's question:

Doctor, a colleague of mine has been experiencing discomfort in his lower abdomen recently. After a thorough examination at the hospital, it was found to be prostatitis, but it is in the early stages. I see he is not in a hurry and still comes to work. I want to ask if early-stage prostatitis can heal on its own?

Doctor's answer:

There are many different causes that can lead to prostatitis, among which the most common ones include bacterial infection, urinary obstruction causing urine reflux leading to infection. Prostatitis is a relatively common male urological disease. If it is not treated in a timely manner, it may interfere with sexual function and fertility, and may even worsen to cause other inflammatory conditions. Therefore, it is important to actively seek treatment from a regular hospital in the early stages. It can heal on its own, but it will never heal on its own.
