Features: Throughout the history of Chinese and foreign literature, the star effect of renowned writers is evident, much like the impact of celebrities in the arts and sports. An actor or singer with outstanding performance skills, or an athlete in peak competitive condition, almost always has a large number of fans. These numerous fans can become obsessed with or even fanatical about their favorite actors, singers, or athletes—this is what is commonly referred to as popularity. Writers with popularity experience the same effect. Unlike sports and entertainment celebrities, who captivate audiences through skills, appearance, and body language, they interact directly and clearly with their fans, collectively building intense popularity. In contrast, writers and readers form an indirect relationship. Writers rely on their works; they stand behind their creations, mobilizing their creative talents and meticulously employing the art of language to craft literary works, using the emotional appeal of their works to captivate readers and gain popularity. Popular writers often see their works sell well and attract a wide readership. As a literary magazine that has embraced the market, readers, and innovative reforms since the new century, Beijing Literature (Exquisite Reading) has introduced the "Writer Popularity Rankings" column since the new century. This column carefully selects and showcases the latest short stories and novellas by famous contemporary Chinese writers who possess the highest popularity and reading impact. Their new works may not be the best for the writers themselves, but they are certainly the first ones readers want to read. This is because the names of these writers largely carry appeal or potential appeal; their names themselves are brands, and readers come for the writers' names. For their favorite writers' new creations, they often want to read them first. The "Writer Popularity Rankings" column of Beijing Literature (Exquisite Reading) has since the new century nearly comprehensively included and showcased the latest short stories and novellas by all the most popular or potentially popular writers in China today. Moreover, we also include reviews of the writers' works, discussions on their creative process, or sketches of the writers' personal lives in this column, presenting a comprehensive view of the writers' works, creative journeys, or personal lives. This allows readers to experience the works and writers from different angles, closely connecting with the creators, thereby satisfying their literary reading preferences and fully enjoying the reading pleasure brought by their beloved writers. This kind of literary reading pleasure is delivered to numerous literary enthusiasts across the country with each newly published issue of Beijing Literature (Exquisite Reading) every month. At the same time, since 2003, we have collaborated with the Cultural and Art Press to compile and publish all the latest short stories and novellas from the "Writer Popularity Rankings" column of Beijing Literature (Exquisite Reading), along with related reviews, discussions on the writers' creative processes, and sketches of their personal lives, forming a unique literary feast to the greatest extent possible to satisfy the interests of
